Hi everyone. I'm new here so I thought I'd say Hi. I live in Bristol and ride 1 of 3 bikes, depending on what I'm up to - a tourer, a racer or a MTB. The MTB I use for night rides off road.
To keep a level of fitness, I try to cycle as often as I can out of Bristol on the most traffic free routes. There are two I use. The Bristol to Bath cycle path and the Ashton to Pill path (under the Suspension Bridge) which allows me a traffic free route all the way to Portishead. I tend to do the day rides to Bath and the night rides to Portishead.
The Portishead route is very dark as it passes through woodland, farmland until you hit Pill (but it's helped by a Magicshine P7 which blasts through the darkness). As I know the route so well, my thoughts tend to wander. Maybe it's something to do with the dark and remoteness.
I spend part of the route talking to myself, for company more than anything else. I don't think I'm going crazy. It tends to keep me focussed. Once I hit the b-road and civilization, I shut up again.
Anybody else do this?
Ed
