Appearances should not dictate your attitude, but it's surprising how often you find it doing so. I learned that lesson the easy way when the easy going guy in scruffy jeans with untidy hair helped me set the record for the biggest sale in the branch ...

On holiday a few years back i got talking to this bloke about old cars- he mentioned he had a few. This bloke was wearing scruffy jeans, loafers that were worn through and a washed out T-shirt. His hair was all over the place and he needed a shave. Looking further his hands were immaculate and had not worked in many years and a £15k watch hung off his wrist.
You should have seen the size of his fecking Yacht :shock: It was so big it had to be moored outside the harbour and his staff were spotlessly dressed in white. Smashing bloke he was too. He wife was just as scruffy looking too.

Just goes to show that appearance isn't everything.

If I were minted, I would have a lovely bike shop full of shiny things that I wanted to stock. I would also have a cafe attached so that people could pop along and have a cuppa and browse and talk bike-stuff and buy stuff or not and get stuff fixed by someone getting paid enough to care about what he was doing. All the time, I would just make nice coffee and chat to people and see if I could help them out. I would not sell crap, but I would help people fix it.

Now, just need to win the Euromillions so I can operate at a loss to make it happen!

A simple smile, wave a cheerful "Let me know if I can help?" is enough without the need of them hovering over you.

Perfect approach.

I'm OK.... if they have been hovering and they ask if I need any help I just reply in sign-language and they leave me well alone after that!!!
