Do you ever get the feeling that...

Get yourself a bird like outfit and call yourself woody and see how you fit in then

Now that was a good film!* (*disclaimer - I was 13 when I saw it and haven't seen it in the 28 years since)

We went to the pub last Friday to talk about the bike weekend we had just had, felt weird and blew out the most of Saturday, I only had 4 pints! my pub days are over.

after 4 pints of Strongbow - I have to report that as the alchol... alckoh.... cider took hold, conversation flowed free and today's topics were:

I (LGF) look similar to someone famous (barmaid wouldnt tell me who though)

My swineflu

Pubquiz questions

and I'm at least 1 foot taller than most of the pub clientell

Sounds like a quality night out! Better than me, i just drink at home swearing at the telly  pretentingi have lots of friends....

I think it's just an age thing- you become more insular. I avoid going to the pub these days- OK, after a night ride a pints alright because you've just been out on a bike and have something to talk about with cyclng buddies But I do struggle to do small talk with your average joe because I hate football and telly, I have not watched the news or read a paper for just over a year (don't wanna know any more), I work alone so I have absolutly no idea what is going on in the world. I can honestly say I could not name one number 1 record in the last five years and I only heard about Katy Perry coz Jez said he fancied her.
I know where you are comng from LGF, an evening in the pub is a dull experience these days, it's just all moanng, football, X-Factor and bragging about how much one can drink (pissed on four pints before you ask, six=sick). I did think that I was getting grumpier and out of step with the world but you know what? I think it's the rest of the world that's going mad- why would you spend Sarurday night watching Simon Cowell and his bunch of desperate wannabes and actually lift up the phone and line his pockets?
Don't worry about it.

Si
