I sold my Kona Hei Hei about a month ago  when a chance meeting in my local pub ended with a silly cash offer for the whole bike being made which I couldn't refuse :?

I had a phone call last night to say its too small for him and he's going to strip it down and put the frame on ebay :( but as I'd made him promise to he was giving me first refusal :?

He's basically had a months holiday using it in Scotland and now he's bored of cycling is my guess

I've seen pictures of it and it now has cable scuffs on the headtube decal and the downtube decal is a bit scuffed to

He overpaid for it in the first place   so he's asking over the odds for it now :? so do I bite the bullet and buy it back never to let it go again :?: or are old bikes best left just to be talked about through rose tinted specs in years to come :?:

Cheers
Steve

Tell him he's damaged it, but you will buy it back, at a realistic price

Yes, i would also try that. If it doesn´t work, let it go to the bay and buy it at a more reasonable price (or ask a friend to do it for you...)

its worth what you are prepared to pay for it. I sold my Pace rc200 and i had the chance to get it back and didnt

wish i had

I doubt you will regret buying it back but suspect you may regret not buying it.

New decals can be had for not much so you could include the cost of those in any negotiations plus a reasonable reduction on what he paid for what is basically a months bike rental. Key really is do you want it? If the answer is "yes" then it's just agreeing a reasonable price.

Tell him to put it on ebay and buy it there for the market value?

I sold my GT, regretted it straight away - the chance came up to buy it back - its still with me after ssome 15 years

I agree with that, you might get it back lower than you hoped for, just place your max bid and hope for the best.
