DMR Trailstar circa 1999

Hi everyone, it’s been probably over a decade since I did a post like this, I haven’t used the forum in a while with life generally being busy, 2 young kids, busy job and life in general.

Anyway, after routing through my old MBUK mags from 2000-2002 I couldn’t help but notice the old DMR trailstar!

I had one of these around 1999 built up as a trials bike and was a bit of a tank! I swiftly moved onto a Pashley. The DMR is definitely more suited to jumps/trails!

So after a week of pondering and eBay searching, I came across this frame and pulled the trigger.

The plan is to build it as a fully rigid, single speed pump track type build, I have most of the parts, some borrowed off my other bikes, some sourced through eBay.

I’ll put some of the magazine snips as they are quite nostalgic.

The paintwork has taken a hiding over the years, looks like it’s not had a chainstay protector and possibly used a trials bike at some point in its life, I’ve managed to source some touch up paint from the local car parts shop, I want to keep the original paint ideally as it’s cool! I’ve touched up some of the damage on the rear end, it’s not perfect but better than the raw metal being exposed.
