Disc/Hub Question

Disc brake question.

I have a hydraulics at the moment with Shimano centre lock hubs. Would it be possible to fit wheels with six bolt hubs and fit new six bolt rotors? Will it just be a straight swap using the same Shimano caliper?

yes - you can get the centre-lock to 6 bolt adapters. it may shift the position of the disc a tiny bit but you should be able to adjust for that using shims (IS mount) or reposition (post mount).

Bear in mind that IIRC Shimano c/lock rotors are 0.1-0.2mm wider than many other rotors. When I put c/lock rotors with my old Hayes calipers I noticed the difference, it made the brakes much sharper :)

They shouldn't be, disc rotor thickness does vary between manufacturers but normally only by 10ths of a mm, and as long as you reset pistons fully they shoulda auto adjust for the same lever feel, it's only if running massively thicker pads or rotor, or if you don't reseat the pistons all the way that you would end up with less lever travel.

Hayes calipers are notoriously hard to fully reset, and they only get worse as they get older speaking from about 5 pairs of personal experience and dozens more in the workshop

Yeah, my post related to the fact that Hayes can be a bit tricksy as you said. 10ths of a mm is what I said (0.1-0.2mm) and it did make a difference
