I know that this is a long shot, but I just wondered if anyone recorded "The Joy of Stats" from BBC4?

I managed to miss every showing until the last one and only then found out what a great programme it was. And of course by then, it was too late to stick a DVD-R into the whatitsname...

Someone has uploaded the scene with the animated graph to YouTube -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbkSRLYSojo -- which gives a sample of just how brilliantly accessible statistics becomes when presented by a guy like Hans Rosling.

But I'd still prefer to see the full-size version on the TV in my lounge... :(

The first one was brilliant. A crazy swedish professor with loads of enthusiasm for everything statistical.

I say "someone"...... if I'd looked closer, I would have spotted that it was actually, the BBC....  ;)

Was there more than one? I thought it was a repeat of the same show. But yes, it was brilliant -- and the professor's enthusiasm and great sense of humour were evident throughout the whole programme.

Ahhhh, now I really wish I'd recorded it....

Perhaps there was only one. Last night had 'Beautiful equations' with some great input from Prof. Steven Hawking.

Yeah, I saw that. I thought that an arty guy like Matthew Collings was a really good sport for diving straight into some algebra! :)

Cheers Cyfa. Yes, that's one option, but the BBC only make programs available for about a month and then they pull them. Plus, I'd like to watch the programme on my TV in the lounge...

If anyone has this on a DVD I'd be very interested ...

I can't get iplayer out here (well, I can if I go through a UK proxy but it's very, very slow)
