Did anyone do Peaks (or RB XC) ride on a Single speed?

Yeah, they say 40 miles but strangely enough my computer said 42, so I plotted it on bikely and guess what? 42 miles! B@$t@rd$

good work guys,

I already had my disibilties on the last trip, crap diet stilldont know what to eat on the move, rubbish planning, no training, last minute bike, bad tolerances of dehydration and all the usual, i do have two legs tho which helps

But i wonder if single speed is a disability anyway, i was fannying around, going into smallest ring, nearly losing balance (and the plot) then back int grinding the middle ring, getting out witted and pushing :D so one piggin gear cant hurt can it, so may trial it on my lovely lightweight mule, got some ideas. worth a go. :D 8)

The Peaks would have been tough ss but anything is doable as long as you accept it'll be lots of hard work, plenty of pushing and a bit of running - funny, sounds just like a geared ride to me but that's only because I never really got the hang of changing gear even if I can.

I've also ridden ss at Cannock and at all the MM I've done.

Without wanting to proselitise (I've been so waiting to use that word here), ss is great if weather is very poor. Only an opinion you understand.

Interesting, cheers ed, well I was going to make the Apex my wet grimey weather machine and its quite light, so SS would complement it nicely. could be fun. hmm we'll see. defo worth a try if nowt else. 8)
