I've noticed, got one of the type 2 rear mechs earlier in the year, work of machining/art, pricey, but rebuildable, and should last a lifetime, anyway have you seen the cost of a new xtr rear mech these days?
not much in the design has changed from the original, but you can choose your colour, and mine came with carbon cage plates.... Yummy! :mrgreen:

I could build a bike with each one of those derailleurs and have a good colorway too match. I love the look of them. I have never had the chance to ride one of them. I have seen new old stock ones in person and also on bikes. I don't even know how they shift.
