Ive just, not 2-3 days since asked a member on here whether he had one of the smokey ASCENT EX D.B.'s from 1989...

It was my second MTB and was a real great bike..Probably the one that started it for me

Im also bidding on the one on the BAY..It is the exact one i had

A bit twitchy on the front end with them damn straight blade forks :roll:

But what a nostalgia trip eh :?:

One of the original Carreras had that paint job as well, although it was no cheapie - full XT, tioga t bone stem and Michelin hilite hots! Mmmmm

Good value maybe, but really, could you ever get excited over a Carrera??

I got excited about the whole build, black XT was seldom seen and especially on a bike at that price, great paint job too and to be honest the carreras you see in halfords these days are way sheiter than they were back in the day, I also heard (correct me if I'm wrong ) from somewhere the frames were from the same factory as saracen - and if they were, that can't be a too bad a frame either.

I remember my dad having a Diamond back Axis (1988 model I think) with the most amazing smoke paint job ever, It had a purple laquer which really made it. It was a massive frame about 23" , 18 speed XT groupset , thumbies, Biopace HP ,Long Tioga T Bone stem, tange prestige tubing Farmer John on Rear and FJ Couzin on front. It was soooo light.

Some theiveing Bstds broke into our garage and pinched it with along my beloved 91 Cindercone :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry:

I will try and dig out a pic and scan it in.
