derailleur tune up question?

I'be been trying to tune up my 5 speed shimano rear derailleur.

I can get it to change from 5 to 4 to 3 fine but the cable appears to tight at this point to change into 2 or 1. I have loosened the cable but then it is really loose, flapping about and doesn't look right.

How do i set this up, i've googled it a few times and have got the basics of the high and low screws but other than alligning it up right i'm a little stuck!

theres 2 screws on the mech , H and L , you'll want to screw the one marked L anti clockwise a wee bit .
