Just needed to clean the grease and muck off my Pace forks steerer so I decided to try a can of brake and clutch cleaner spray and it's phenomenal! It's basically a high pressure jet of solvent in a can and it removes every spec of grease - even blew all the rust out the threads :).

The cheapest degreaser you can buy is Diesel, pound-ish a litre and works a charm
The stuff in the cans is good, but you get virtually nothing, half the can is propellant, so you only get a drible in them for 3 or 4 quid.

Why? Have you tried lighting diesel? Much more stable than a lot of other products like WD40

I missed that post too, Bile :?
Does it actually work? What do you use to get the stench off afterwards
