Very sorry to hear of your bad fortune, but IMHO there's several ways of looking at the bike situation. I'm getting a bit long in the tooth myself and carry quite a few injuries,(and the resulting arthritus), so can't ride how I used to be able to, but I get just as much enjoyment from finding, renovating, building and fettling with my bikes, if not more than from riding them.
I would spend the extra spare time on your building skills and take a few gentle rides on level going that should speed the recovery process a little and keep your interest going.

Vote of rationality, rather than confidence. More, if you ebay the lot and are able to get on the saddle again you can have loads of fun rebuilding 2/3 dream bikes - just don't spend the money you've obtained.
