decals, laquer and respraying

Going to respray a friends 93 Explosif for him, I was intending to respray it then laquer it and then apply replacement decals from gil_m over the top of the laquer,

Is this the way it`s done? Good if it was as he hasn`t got his arse in gear and done anything about the decals and the frame has been sat here for months and I want to spray it asap and get it shifted!

Personally I would spray the frame and apply the decals without laquering over the top. Laquer looks terrible once it starts to scratch plus you would have to strip it all off to start over again rather than just get another set of decals.
