Does capital punishment join religion and politics on the list? Along with BOTM

I don't see why any view is more valid than any other? I respect the right to have one even if I don't agree with it as long as it's expressed without insult.

I would still be happy to see a large number of those we currently house eradicated or used appropriately despite some of the arguments expressed here.

I understand there is usually potential for re-hab, but surely if you've had that spark somewhere at the back of your brain that has said to you 'You know what, the only way out of this is to kill' whats to stop that spark re-igniting a second, third, forth......time??
I only have one comment re religously motivated murder, What god would condone the taking of another life? Certainly not the sort of role model i'd want for my kids

If the only way out is to kill, you kill. That, in itself, is not morally wrong.

Pacifism is well meaning but misguided. As much as people like to look up to gandhi, he actually got nothing done.

Depends what it is that you're trying to get out of. A small room with someone else who's trying to kill you? An abusive marriage? A financially ruinous business relationship? An arrest? A restaurant bill?

I suspect that very few of the people convicted of murder were actually trying to save their own life when they committed it. Of those that thought they were, I suspect many had problems thinking or acting rationally at the time.

1) kill, 2) kill, 3) no 4) depends 5) easier to run away

Discretion is easy! Happy killing.

i think everyone has pretty much said everything they need to say here.

some favour it, some don't . . . what a surprising outcome . . . .

while there hasn't been a huge amount of abuse as such on this thread, it has become needlessly nitpicky and there is alot of reading in to what other people have said and may think.

on that basis i'm gonna lock this.
