Dawes Super Galaxy, out of this world price.

To be fair, for a 50 year old bike, that has never been repainted, I think the £795 Galaxy does look very well cared for.

As for the handlebar position, very occasionally I have seen people riding with handlebars in that position when the reach is too great (riding a frame that is much too large). In this case the bike has reportedly had one owner who is now elderly, so the issue might be that they developed back problems that stopped them reaching the bars in their proper position. It seems unlikely that they bought the bike new and rode for 50 years with a reach that was too great. But hey, maybe it was on sale all those years ago, and they convinced themselves that despite being far too large, the frame size didn't matter.

Anyway, I suspect that the £795 Galaxy listing is how the seller of the £900 Super Galaxy got the idea that they could get an extra £105 for having the Super version of the Galaxy. And despite the fact that the £900 Super looks very unloved compared to the plain Galaxy.

Because nobody wanted to collect, I paid £11 for a bicycle that is every bit as good as this. I was prepared to pay £25! Yes, £25!

Insane...

Being local is just luck though, unless you're willing to put the money you saved into fuel or rail tickets. And you can buy quite a bit of fuel for several hundred £, although the same amount doesn't seem to get you very far on our railways.

Perusing the Ebay completed and sold listings suggests that Dawes tourers don't generally sell for more than £200-£300, and often fetch much less. The only ones that sell for more tend to be very recent models in excellent, barely-used condition.
