Dawes Ranger - My first MTB

Found this old photo of my first MTB whilst having a clear-out.

Not sure of the actual date I had it but it's definitely pre-1989 as I had my Overburys' Pioneer that year.

I remember the Ranger had a Reynolds 531 ATB frameset with tandem forks and a looooong wheelbase (as a lot of early MTBs had).

Answering my OWN Post - now I know I'm getting OLD!!

Actually the Dawes Ranger must have been Pre-1985 as it was in that year that I had a Team Raleigh Maverick built for me at the Raleigh Lightweight Division at Ilkeston. I rode this in the 1985 Bicycle Magazine/Muddy Fox Trailblazer on the North Downs in Surrey.

Sadly this fine beast was stolen and abandoned with the frame all busted-up. Next came the Overburys' Pioneer, and that was followed by the 1990 Dyna-Tech I am still currently running (Team Colours and Campag Centaur groupset).
