Dawes New Wave

Just been up in a very hot loft to check and mine is a 30.0mm Neil.

Thank you, I appreciate the effort, and let's face it, everything is an effort in this heat.

Just been for a ten mile ride with my son, while he tested his newly built fully rigid 29'er.

Great fun, but blinkin warm, even at 9.30 pm.

And for the pedantic, no, I obviously wasn't on the New Wave.

Smells like a '90/'91 model to me, I have the the 1990 brochure here somewhere and the spec/colour before it was split seems to add up.

Desperately trying to lay my hands on a 90/91 raw nerve at the moment now I've free'd up space in the garage. Had one BITD and missed it ever since, they were under rated then and still now it seems.

There's one for sale on ebay at the moment but it's in Manchester and collection only.

Manchester you say...? 8) When does it end? Going away for a week or so on Friday, but if I can get it before then or the seller can hold onto it for a week then you're likely to bag a bargain! Collection only auctions are usually bargain territory anyway... :D

Just so happens that I've got a bike box I was about to chuck out too!

New Wave is a cracker, really nice frame layout with that dipped top tube. Always liked Dawes as the classier of the British outfits in my eyes

Any more thoughts on the build Neil?

Sorry if you've already said this but i was wondering if you have you managed to find anything about the original spec?

I would try and find some nice black Ritchey bits and bobs to really set off the frame colour...

Sorry to be an arse, but if you're likely to need a hand posting it on I really need to know, otherwise the box will get binned before the in-laws arrive tomorrow - hadn't thought of that! I can stash it in the car if necessary though

I think we have two conversations going on here :?

I have some nice silver wheels, Mavic / Shimano DX, and I am thinking 1990/91 DX running gear, although there is a really nice black XT crankset in the for sale section at present.

I may go Ritchey, but as I have just finished the CATS in a mainly Ritchey theme, it might be nice to do something else this time, not really sure what yet.

I remember my original had Continental Cross Country tyres, and sti shifters, more than that I really don't remember, it was 20 plus years ago.

I'm open to suggestions, although I don't think a really high spec build will suit.

Sorry Neil, feel a bit bad going off topic your build thread, just trying to nudge elpedro in the right direction so that bren can get his Dawes collected.
