Dave Lloyd Frame Register

Re:

Thanks Neil. Please could you re-check, it is just that mine is labelled as being made from Reynolds 653. Number is LL 92 518

Cheers

Re:

Are you sure it is not LL92 515? Or 513 They are both made of 653. 518 is definitely made of Columbus SL.

Re:

Thanks Neil. I have tried to take a picture of the number but see what you think is the correct digit. Also I attach a picture of the frame and forks. Cheers.

Re:

Hard to say for sure but I'm going to guess that 513 is the number, in which case, it is made of 653 and was originally built for Peter Churchill.

I love that paint job, it is classic 1990's DL, wonderful.

Re:

I like 653, I have a Rourke built from it which is my winter bike and it is a treat to ride.

You need to get the C90 built, summer's coming.

Hi Neil,

I am from Germany and have the numbers of two DL frames I am curious to k ow more about.

The first one is mine. I bought it from a friend equipped only with wheels and bottom bracket. The frame is lugged and the number is "5180" - so it will not be in your nice book. Is has to be a frame between 1982 and 1989 because of the "Reynolds 531C" decal. 126mm, medium long brake range and hex bolts not allen screws for the brakes. Any Informations would be great!

The other one is owned by a friend which had problems to register here... Frame number is 951049 and build with Reynolds 753 for 650c/571 wheels

Re:

OK, easy one first.

You have most of the info on the later frame: LL951049 is a TRI800 originally made for a chap called Gareth Hammil, and it is made of Reynolds 753.

The earlier frame is a lot more difficult because any frame made before 1988 is not in the book. I have two of Dave's early frames, one from around 1975 and the other a little later, both are completely different in their style of construction and yours is a different style again. I'm afraid I don't know who made Dave's frames for him back then, I was told Argos Racing but when I spoke to them they said they made some of Dave's own racing frames but not those he built up and sold.

One of the other guys may be able to shed some light, but I think there were quite a few frame builders back then who would supply local shops with frames and forks, these would then built up and sold by the shop under their own name. Regardless, if it is a Reynolds 531 frame it will ride really nicely, one on my early Lloyd's is 531 and I also have a Keith Coppell in the same tubeset and they both ride well. Enjoy.

Thank you a lot for the info - I will do a bit of research myself l. If I find something new, I will also inform you guys here.

Do you also have the year for the later one? :D

Cheers from Cologne!
