Dave Yates built all the Joe Waugh frames. He started building in the late 70's and has built 14'000 since (mostly under his own name).

Joe Waughs shop, maybe you could email with serial for exact date, but I suspect late 80's. What is rear spacing 126 or 130? http://www.msteelcycles.co.uk/

Not sure that Dave personally built them all. The shop in Gosforth had a frame building workshop close by. That workshop produced "Dave Yates", "Joe Waugh" and "M Steel" frames, plus frames for other local shops such as "Denton". If it is 653, then maybe late 80's early 90's

I worked at Dentons and we kept a detailed log book of bikes/frames, hopefully Steel's did too and may be able to help

Thanks to both of you for your input , I thought there was some link between Yates and Waugh , but was unsure what it was .

I'll look the site up

The spacing is 130mm
