I'm thinking lat 1940's, very early 1950's

No date stamps, brass badge without the Made in England

Storage has been kind so its lovely and soft.

Provenance has it in a kitchen cupboard for at least 40 years!

On my 60's Brooks Professional it has a serial number on the back plate dating it to 1966. Older and newer saddles I have don't have a number so all bit confusing.. have you got a number?

I don't think the Made in england appears on all models anyhow. Certainly I had old and new Brooks saddles in the 90s and 00s without it. Frankly, if you'd told me it was 5,10, 25 or 50 years old I'd believe you as part of the appeal of Brooks is their timelessness.

I think I've read somewhere that the round Brooks logo on the side ceased in the early 50s.

There's sometimes a 2-digit number stamped on the underside of the chassis (or sometimes burned into the leather), e.g. 79 which corresponds to 1979. This isn't consistent though.

It came from a 1940's Raleigh (I have most of the bits for) so I am assuming plus knowing where it came from that it is a late 1940's saddle.

Given the various website information about dates and codes, the description seems to fit

I will fit it to this for now
