Slx had internal rifled spirals. It was seen as a step up or more exotic than SL. It was the pro's choice of the late 80's and early 90's.
I remember a magazine article from year 1997 where they had 6 test bikes all with different Columbus tubing, all painted the same colour with no tubing decals. The riders all preferred the lower end Columbus Aelle bike!
