Cycling across London? Top tips?

I think the circle line should let you take a bike on the train as it doesn't go below ground. I used it a couple of years ago, not sure if they've changed the rules on it or not though.

Any of the "sub-surface" routes (Met, Circle, District, Hammersmith & City) are OK for bikes outside of peak hours. Alternatively, depending on how much Thameslink engineering work has mucked things about, go Waterloo-Waterloo East-London Bridge-St. Pancras (Thameslink platforms) then walk round to KX. Sounds convoluted but works fine in practice; less crowded than the Underground too.

Enjoy the ride! (but make sure to give them hell for stopping the completely free for the entire journey wifi service- now replaced with one that is stated by them to be better, but require the costs of the upgrade to be met by charging the passenger £4.99 for a service that is infact no faster, reliable or easier to use than the old one)

Also the refreshment service ain't what it used to be compared to GNER days - gone are the own-branded mixed vegetable crisps and bottles of Nimmo's XXXX from the buffet car :(

As mentioned earlier it is great fun. You are faster than all 4w + vehicles, you can race all the other cyclists. You get chance to rest at traffic lights, if there are cars coming. If you have beaten Mr Trendy on his Bianchi fixed away from the lights on your Brompton and he's catching you up, just pretend yours is the next left not allowing him the satisfaction of passing you back.

This is a ride I did Tate Modern to Kings Cross
