Due to a run of illness and other misfortunes, I'm now hoping to it [retro] next year. I'll be watching out for my old 50-something ex-line manager, who I could never envisage riding a bike, though. He really enjoys the finer things in life. I spied him sneaking in and out of work with a wheelset and then later in 'Evans the bike' buying a fashionable cycle cap. All credit and good luck to him though. I'm going to get me and the bike fit for next year...

Just been to watch at the base of Leith Hill. Very little retro. A few nice ti bikes and some flashes of steel. Mostly carbon monoculture.

Most people looked in good shape. No obvious stragglers which surprised me.

Main impression was how busy it was. Might get round to doing it next year.
