Custom Klein road bike - VERY U.S.A. paint

Post Trek model but the welds and paint look to be of the same high quality in the Pre-Trek days. However the paint scheme is anything but subtle. You'd have to be a politician though to want something THIS patriotic. Plus, I always associate red/white/blue paint schemes with Ritchey frames.

I thought it was the US public that was patriotic, and the politicians just pretended to be to get votes?

I met somebody from San Francisco out on the Sussex Downs a couple of weeks ago. He works for an IT company called Informatica. I was riding a US bike called a Kona. He had a very good bike and knew what he was doing, but what struck me was that he had never heard of Kona.

To be honest, before finding this site, I too had never heard of Kona. I used to read Mountain Bike Action pretty regularly in 1993-1995 and from what I remember, they tended to feature these brands the most:

GT
Specialized
Pro Flex
Yeti
Ritchey

There was also some sprinkling in of Mountain Cycles, Cannondale and a few others but for the life of me, I can't remember ever reading about or seeing a Kona either in their magazine or in a bike shop. My memory isn't the best though

Yeah, those Klein custom-order 'country' paintjobs were either way cool or way fugly.
I guess the USA theme goes a bit over the top...
