Just a puzzlement and not meant to offend in anyway

Looking as you do through various job advertisements more and more seem to be requiring crb checks of some kind.

Do we have anyone who works in hr who could answer the following, whilst relatively easy to check those who are born in the u.k. who would you check on those who were not? just one of lifes little puzzling questions

You need a certificate from the police / court records in the country you previously resided.

When I returned from an expat assignment I had to provide exactly this documentation.

It's more for personal protection really. A lot of these roles require trust and if something happens and everyone is looked at it would be nice to know we all passed the same entry pass's

although eastern european and african are the obvious at the momment....it could just as easily be canadian, australian etc

my bag of killing machines just a big daft soft lab thats madder than a sack of spanners...

I never had to provide such information . I just renewed mine . and I work in a boarding special need school so we have the higher level of CRB , or DBS as it is called now .

That explains the problem we have.

Most european and certain other countries that have similar checks are linked to each other, so with permission these checks can be completed from the country of inquiry. This case from the UK.
So I dont really think thats the problem highlandsflyer as cchris2lou's would be completed from the Uk the same as anyone elses.
