Copper's Tea Morning...

Nah... as others have noted in another similar thread, speeding is OK as long as you think it's safe.

only edited as the original wasn't strong enough. sir.

as a father of 3, and a cycle instructor to young children, i really hope you don't come to regret your use of speed.

Had you said you were the owner of three dogs you might have had a chance of pulling at my heart strings, but children? Pfft.

ok flip it round, i drive at 40mph past you front door and kill your dog. as far as im concerned no harm done as its just a dog.

On the contrary, there'd be a lot of harm done...

i see we are singing from the same hymn sheet. if you can imagine that i see my kids, and those who i teach, in the same light as your dogs then you can understand my anger at your disregard for the speed limit. by sticking to the speed limit you will reduce the chance of causing someone, or something, serious injury or worse. surely its worth considering?

I drive at (or below) the posted speed limit.. in a national I drive at (or, again, below) either 60 or (around) 70, depending on which is appropriate.
The incident I got caught (4 or 5mph over a 30 limit) was as much a surprise to me as it was to the Wife.. a moments lack of concentration, probably.

Always wear a seat belt (even in the back), never use my phone while driving..

Up to others how they (mis)behave on the roads.. as long as it doesn't affect me or mine.

hell i'm no saint and i agree with you totally ian, but the problem is people like technodup do affect you and yours.

Not really. I don't speed on wee roads in built up areas, unless you count 30 in a twenty's plenty (which isn't speeding at all). I do speed on motorways, dual carraigeways and those 40 limit roads with two lanes each way. I don't drink and drive, I don't tailgate, cut people up or otherwise drive aggressively.

I'm completely comfortable with my balance of speed and safety. Just like I don't need the safety police to make me wear a helmet on my bike I am quite happy to manage my driving as I think appropriate.
