copper grease inside sus forks ????

Does copper grease/slip contain particles of metal(copper?) in it? ie; is this likely to leave anything in the bushes? :?

i dont think they have been used since the plonka re-greased them so i`m gonna take them apart and have a bike-less weekend :cry:

Yes, it does. It's ideal for Ti parts as the copper in it helps to stop the parts binding (there is a technical name for it but I can't remember it at the mo ).

If you use it in suspension forks it will likely cause galvanic corrosion to occur. This is what then causes the fork to seize up.

copper grease will cause premature wear on any moving part. Clean it off ASAP

well after i`d made a new steerer and pressed it into my crown i opened them up again and cleaned them out at work,didnt find elastomers i found big long yellow springs ( speed springs ???) are these any good ??

I've used Speed springs to replace MCU elastomers in a rear shock with an oil damper. And although a bit underdamped, for the flattish XC in Holland it worked fine.

Does the older Manitou fork have an oil damper? If there is you should be OK if your riding doesn't suffer too much from under-damped suspension. If not and it relies on inherent damping of the elastomers alone, converting to springs means it will have no damping at all.
