1" = 22.2
1/8th =25.4

whatevea people, this is not a place to argue over sizes,

as originally posted these are 1" quill.

simple.

22.2mm = 0.87"
25.4mm = 1"

a quill with 25.4mm diameter is meant for a 1 1/8" fork/head set, a quill with 22.2mm diameter for a 1" fork/head set. i know it's semantics but your stem does not have a 1" quill.

my stem is 1" quill not buy someones verniers but they way it is sold everyware.

you go into any shop here and ask for a 1" quill stem this is what you will get.

you ask for 1/8th and ull get the next size up.

if i buy a 1" quill stem off any off the shop rep's i get same as im selling.

its not digitally correct but thats the way it is.

enjoy.

totally agree mate, if i want a stem to fit a 1" set of forks I want a 1" quill stem. It'd get a bloody confusing world if you had to ask for everything by speific OD, what would a 1" headset be called 'cos it's OD of the cups is bigger than the forks, and what about a 1" inch headtube, surely it's OD would vary by tube material and thickness.

In my world and that of every shop, supplier and manu I know, a 1" headset, fork and frame all fit each other and are bought as 1" and referred to a 1". Same with 1 1/8" and all other sizes. It may not be technically correct but it's the accepted norm that makes the world a simpler place!

that's all perfectly correct. all i stumbled over was the term <1" quill> and my experience is that this may mean it is a 1" quill stem i.e. for a 1" fork but it may also mean that it is for a 1 1/8 fork. and that's all i wanted to have clarified. the photo is obvious but it wasn't there when i asked.

Not knocking you Carsten I agree with your need for clarification as I've been at the wrong end of this confusion before from certain sellers sending out the wrong sized bits. What I reckon is that we need an SI unit of front-end to avoid all this!
