Cook Bros Racing stem

For a price you should post in the 'what is my XYZ worth' thread*. Though the trends of late on ebay would be your best bet or indeed sell it on ebay.

*as per forum etiquette, thus the random prices.

i've measured it and i'm pretty sure that it's 1" .......

so can anyone give me a sensible price suggestion please ?

Scarecrow

If you have measured the quill and it is 1" or 25.4mm diameter that means it is for 1 1/8" headsets.

A 1" quill will have a diameter of 22.2mm.

Hope that helps and I am not teaching you to suck eggs

But why does 1 1/8" zero rise not help.
Most stems I've ever used are zero rise and most bikes are 1 1/8" threaded, or is this a pre 90's thing ?

Its a pre 90s thing. The highest grossing versions of those stems are the high rise, 1" quill ones, ergo the low rise 1 1/8" quill ones may be worth less.

A 1" quill high rise NOS version sold for £326 a year ago

YIP - you're right - it's 25.4 - so for 1 1/8" headset ....

I've seen their cranks, I wouldn't trust their stems
seems odd, Ive seen a couple of cracked Cooks, but as a percentage no worse than Race Face, Grafton or Kookas.

Said in jest of course, hence the original wink.

thanks for the background info.

But Cooks, Grafton and Kooka have never been anything I actually wanted or desired as I've never liked them. Each to their own desires though :)

Im with you on Grafton and Kooka, but Cooks?

x2 on everything stated
Chances are this stem went below market value when bought, and will not go for more than that when resold. Beyond the name it's not all that functional on a 90's frame. If it's 150 mm, the more rise the better; as I've found out :?
