Conti Astore Campagnolo Athena 11 twisted tube

wulfi

Retro Newbie
The bike was built in 1986 by Italian master craftsman Giovanni Pelizzoli for showroom purposes. It was than striped from components and stored for almost 30 years until I bought it and built it up to be ridden like a good bike deserves.
The only right way to build it up was with all Italian parts. Starting with the all new 2013 silver Athena 11 gruppo and finishing with pearls like Cinelli A1 stem and Record headset, which both were used by 90% of the pro peloton for some good 30 years. Even small details like seat clamp and dropout bolts are from Campagnolo.

It's definitely the best road bike I have ridden, and since being a retired mechanic I have ridden some and more. The frame is very stable in high and low speeds, but very maneuverable due to short wheelbase! It's stiff enough on climbs even for a heavier rider, but doesn't shatter your teeth like modern alu and carbon sprinter frames.

The frame has some small paint chips missing, but i didn't dare to repaint it, to keep the integrity and authenticity of the bike.
