Just to complicate things..
The first number after the first letter, can change the model identification over the production years.
So. M1 in 1991 cannot be team issue, as there wasn't one. F1 In 1995 is team marin. After 1994 the team issue seems to have been dropped.
I know of the subject bike and, it's still up in the air. I would ask if the rear wheel dropouts have 'marin' stamped on them. As, serial numbers are not forced to be dead on acurate as Taiwan made frames for....everyone.
Good luck! Haha, but really, some features like seatpost size, tubing and cable stop locations can narrow it down quite quickly. This is exactly why I got pee'd when bikes get stripped for their parts as you can end up with a generic looking
Taiwanese frame, although it's a grands worth in dog-alogue
My provisional opinion is....
It may be a team marin from 1991, robbed out and resprayed. That is the only 'team' bike that may explain the front cable stop location and chunky rear triangle tubing, or after burners in marin language. Subject bike won't be pre 1991 and definatly not a team bike beyond 1991.
