Ok for a long long long time I've always thought I had a 1" headset and been looking for 1" forks etc since the day I became a 'RetroBike bitch' even the 1" aheadset/quill converter was being considered as an option.
And the blue F7 forks....

Luckily I have not bought anything yet, mainly due to funds :(

But I was just looking for the Rocky Mountain 'Experience' frame that sinnett177 is building up in the '92 catalouge, so I though I would go look at the '92 catalogue with my RM Fusion in just to see what it came with.
I notice it said 1 1/8" headset, now It has the original Ritchey bottom race on but also the M900 XTR top part of the headset I used to have on my RM '91 Altitude

So I looked at that catalogue and low and behold it's 1 1/8" as well.

Hence I am a big numpty, all these years thinking it was 1"*

(unfortunatly I've missed lots of really good offers on forks, stems I could have bought :(

* and I have no idea how I bought the Mavic headset and Mag21 for it in the correct size bitd, lol.
See old steel frame must = 1" ;)

EDIT:/
Just been measuring it, yes 1⅛" also the MAVIC 316 headset gives it away twice first the 316 number, second the Ø 28,6 x 26 f written on the side

I recently bought a shiny new 1 1/8th head set spanner to fettle my, er 1" headset.

It looked about the right size .....

I've re-sold ( at a great loss ) several XT thumbies in FABULOUS condition because they felt badly worn with a ratchety feeling to them. I found out that XT thumbies actually have " half clicks " unlike the full clicks of DX ones which felt fine.

Oh f**ksocks.

I'm new here so i will mind my manners, may i invite one of the more established members here to open the floodgates of ridicule
