Well I'm doing my best to steal back from the Danish vikings, if it's any consolation!

It seems there was a redistribution of wealth in the dark ages after the Romans left, which is why I stopped my timeline with the Saxons.

the gold was labour, how quickly people forget, and the way labour go on now, you would think they only lost the last election because people voted for the others for a laugh, and not because they bankrupted the country amongst other things (2 wars, which we have yet to win).

Labour, conservative, conservative, labour just the same old shit not one party that vastly different from the other, possibly why we keep ending up with more of the same and that change people want, well I suppose one has to define what change is wanted before looking at any parasite party not in power that seeks to gain power via the voter. But as we all know, what promises are made when out of power don't stand a chance when in power due to things like they can't honour their promises because they have realised it is not as easy as they once thought. More like why change the status quo if it benefits the powerful which they have now become.

The wars, well how much of that is the stated objective and how much of it is commercial venture, oldest trick in the book, people sitting on what you want, make them your enemy and then you can justify their destruction. But of all the wars that are documented, name those which did not result in commercial interests becoming more powerful, for that is why the armed forces exist, they exist to enhance commercial venture, the merchant gets wealthy whilst the commoner slave fights to become an institutionalised slave with even less rights than the commoner. The commoner soldier buoyed up with notions of duty and flags bleeds and dies fighting where they are sent to fight, survival is not what the rulers want as that is indicated by the lack of care this country extends to those who survive wars and their dependants.

The status Quo must be maintained, perhaps those that do well out of government are kept there by their masters the merchants, that old money and power from history.

Remembering of course that the us in question is an amalgum of said Normans/Saxons/Vikings/Romans and the early tribes of man who crossed the landbridge from Europe. In short us are in fact them and thus have only ourselves to blame :roll:

Recently... I can't find it now I need it... We had a outdoor centre that included cycling in the forest where the local authority have given them notice to quit next year? Two ladies if I remember

I wonder if the two subjects are linked?
