Concorde Squadra???

Dirt Disciple
Hello everyone,

I picked this lovely bike up recently which I am looking to restore. There is very little info on the net to confirm the exact model. It looks like a Squadra which has had a custom paint job. The forks are chrome and it has Campag dropouts and the typical pantographs.

Does anybody have an idea of the year and exact model.

This one looks to have been owned by former Belgian Cyclist Dirk Roose (Belgian and European Junior Road race champion if my research is correct) and may have been custom built.

I has a mix of Chorus and Athena groupset and Simplex??? shifters.

Re:

We used to sell these frames in the late 80s, if I remember correctly. They were made using Columbus SLX and TSX tubing. Stick your finger inside the BB shell and feel around inside the connecting tubes and you should feel the rifling in those tubes.

As far as colour is concerned, I only ever saw them in a gunmetal grey, white and chrome. Rooks and Theunisse rode them for the PDM team in 1988 . .very nice indeed..

Re:

Thanks Rusty Bodie,

So you think it is d from around 88/89. The only images that I can see suggest around that time.

Where did you sell the frames? What was their price?

I have since stripped the forks which are chrome and in very good nick.

Re:

They were very expensive for the time - they sold for £550 which by comparison a Raleigh or Gazelle 753 would have been around £450-£500.

Lovely frame though.

Enjoy.
