Concorde restoration - on a budget

So some of the shiny bits went on after I'd cleaned the threads out with a tap. OMAS BB went on easily enough even though I couldn't clean the threads, the painter had blanked them off well, so no over spray in the BB shell

With the exception of the brake calipers, these are the original components that came with the bike, just cleaned and polished where possible. 1000007335.webp

So more shiny bits added today, I've misplaced the Campag chainring bolts and the dropout adjustment screws, so I've ordered a new pair of the latter and used some plain chainring bolts for now.

The manky Rolls saddle isn't staying I've got a decent Turbo saddle to go on the seat post, although a nice Rolls would be good to source. I've a titanium Flite, to recover, depends how that goes, so I might use that.

Shifters aren't going to stay in that position, I just ran out of steam to move them 😐

Bit of an unproductive day. After I'd finished installing the headset on the stand, I'd moved it back into my man cave. However, out of the stand, the forks or more precisely the brake caliper was catching on the bottom cup. It looked like the return spring retaining nut was catching as it wasn't orientated with the flat of the nut under the cup. So stripped the caliper down, and rebuilt it so the flat was in the right place.
That didn't cure the problem and after trying various solutions, none of which worked, I swapped the bottom cup and crown race for another one. This worked, seems the VP cup had a larger outside diameter which fouled the caliper and the different crown race raised the headset clearance a few mm to stop the spring nut fouling the cup. All a bit frustrating, but it's done now.

At least the dropout screws turned up in the post this morning, so they do look nice.

Fitted the brake and gear cables before I ran out of steam. I'm impressed with the outer cable that I bought on Temu, super smooth and Teflon lined.
