You are welcome to use mine

Seriously though, as long as it doesn't need to be repackaged I don't think it would be much trouble to take it to the Post Office and fill out a customs form for you.

people in the states tend to ship bikes in one box, and they rarely package them well, so it will need to be repackaged most likely.

Yep

He's happy for me to have it but doesn't want the hassle of getting it small enough to go USPS priority international (which is fair enough) plus to save a few hundred quid i'd like it repacked anyway.

Bottom line is I need a US address to post too by 9 am CDT today as he wants this all done and dusted. i don't have one yet and as it's someone doing a favor for a friend of a friend you cant exactly push or rush them without coming across as a complete cnut "look this is really really important to me - work faster!" heres hoping

Good luck with this!
I hope you're not doing anything today that requires too much concentration, or clean dry hands...

Looking less and less likely
thin is i only really need the frame and running gear - i have wheels here so it seems a bit pointless to ship in 2 separate packages or ship them at all as the receiver could keep them.

parcel2go offer a service with us adress and shipping but doubt they would repack and it wont be cheap .

None of the postal services are cheap unless you partially dissemble and pack appropriately you'd be looking at $380 and up :( (and up is the only way) careful packing can get it under $150.

Anyway thank you every one for your offers of help and a big up to Sq root of 2 . The yo is on it's slow journey to the UK :)

Is it on its way to me?

If so, make sure you get tracking information from the seller so we can know where it is in the 'system'. :)

Keep me posted on the progress and I will do the same.

I am very happy to help.

You are right on point. The $380 would be cheap; try more like $500 to $600 via Fed Ex or UPS.

Yes, USPS priority mail is the best way to go. Just ship the wheels a week after the rest of the bike, to help with customs.

sq_root_of_2 is a top guy; your Yo is in good hands :)

not yet - I only paid this morning.

As soon as i get the tracking details i'll let you know :)
