Anyone know where I can get new cheap compatible rings for my FC-M950 XTR chainset. The inner 24 and 34 are shot and I'm looking for suitable replacements.

Pricey though.

Yup.

I have a 4 bolt spider/rings. Used. Rings look to be in decent shape. Running the 5 bolt ("DH") spider w. RF granny/inner/Black Spire bash ring on the cranks at the present time.

Jesus $100 for a chain ring, plus the spider, would have been palatable when it was $2 for the £.

Yeah M750 spider plus some old Blackspire ring for the cheaper win.

tbh, the bottom brackets are pretty much unavailable new now. Might be a good time to move to something else.

There are alternatives though. If you like this particular setup, and it is correct for your period build, it is still worth searching for the bits and bobs. If you are not fussed then it is a pain.

I do have an original M952 5-arm spider (ca. '99, look at their catalog). This one allows you to use regular 110/74 BCD rings with the XTR cranks, and those size rings are still readily available. Let me know if you're interested.

You can run quite a few set-ups if you change the spider. 5-arm, as mentioned above, is an option. But you can try to find a Deore LX or Deore XT spider and that brings ever more perspectives and I'm pretty sure that some STX-RC 4-arm cranks came with a detachable spider, so that would be the ideal, as they would be the gate to quite a few combos. Also worth checking out: early LX and XT "9-speed" crank spiders (M570, M750) from non-Hollowtech groupsets.

As a matter of fact, I just googled them and found this:
