Good starting points are the Spoon or a San Marco Rolls. These seem to suit more people than most others.
My guess is that most people choose a saddle that is too wide. Then your legs rub and it all chafes horribly.
You also do need to put in some distance. If you haven't ridden much in the past few months, you seem to take less weight onto the legs and more on the saddle and it all hurts.
