Columbus SLX vs Neuron

Re:

Ok, so it sounds like Neuron is probably better than SLX, taking everything into account, which is good to hear, but might mean a find myself with another frame to build up

Were there any recommendations about chroming neuron tubes? This one has a fully chromed rear triangle

Re: Re:

Mine also has a chromed rear triangle, but the chrome is flaking in places, so I wondered the same thing.

Problem is, chroming these days is nothing like the chroming of old. Environmental concerns mean that modern chrome is not as good quality - less durable. I am thinking of just getting it painted instead.

No problem chemically with chrome plating Nivacrom.
The only problem was any preparation and polishing thinning the metal even more, combined with the risk of internal corrosion if the tubes weren't properly rinsed out.

IIRC the only tubeset where chrome plating was expressly forbidden was 753...not that it stopped many builders...

All the best,
