Colour choice on Orange C16r

Hi guys ,

now I have gathered most of the components ready for my next build, an Orange C16r, I want to look at now getting it re-sprayed from the black colour it is wearing , to orange and white, was this colour a standard colour choice BITD for a C16, or was it just for clockworks ? also are original decals available from orange including the tube material sticker ?

If I remember right. The orange / white paint was never used on the C16. It was used on the Prestige and I think the Elite but was discontinued by the time the C16 was introduced. It was then re -introduced for the 1998 10th anniversary Clockwork and then again for last years.

Orange have recently had a big reshuffle of their operation and one of the consequences is they have thrown out all their old Decal stock! :cry: (I've just found out after enquiring after Clockwork decals. :roll: ). It's a real shame 'cos they used to be fantastic for supplies of NOS decals.

Gil_m's your man as repros are the only answer now I guess.

Considering the resurgence of interest in their old bikes and the fact that one of Oranges guys frequents here, that's really short sighted. :roll:

They used to come in a really nice silvery colour, bit like the 'nickle' effect on the P7. I also knew someone who had one in a deep green, like british racing green almost.

There are some good rep decals on fleabay, I got some for my old p7, and to be honest, theyre pretty damn good.

The decals for my P7 came from gil_m and are damn good..

The frame material sticker came from orange and is correct for the type, i.e. 'series 8' but it is a winged circular one instead of the original diamond shaped one.

To be honest the original diamond one came off really easily and could have been recycled, it was just a bit faded and past its best.

yeah i remember the british racing greenish 1, that was cool! do that one!!! don't see many of them either, it'll be more unique.

Orange also did custom colours for the C16r, i have the wind chime with all the colour options that they produced. Mrs JBD has a sky blue C16r, there was also matt black, silver,slime green, ocean blue, dark blue, white, sand and metallic orange and red.
I don't think that many people chose a custom colour tho', i had a slime green X1 for a while, should've kept it i guess :?

i just picked up a frame in british racing green, i can send you a pic of the frame if you want to see what it looks like.
im wondering what to do with it at the moment dose any one know what year there from? i might rebuild it, currinty looking for a pic to see what they were like as i dont know much about them.
