Cool looking frame, you are right about the brakes. those are v brake levers so wont work too well with cantis.

As for the cranks, I think they are dx or similar with a xtr sticker on.

Yep, nice looking bike. I actually have an old review of it, iirc they said that the frame was extremely rigid (even compared to fat tubed alu bikes) and almost seemed to amplify the bumps in the terrain.
