Click click click...

Built the Klein up last night after getting it back from the repairers and riding to work this morning I noticed a clicking noise sometimes. It happens when I brake hard, and when I pedal hard. I noticed it was clicking like this before the frame cracked at the rear dropout (and even afterwards as I gently coasted the rest of the way home).

It sounds like it's the frame, but I can't quite work out where. There are no visible cracks anywhere but even so, I'm worried. Having had it repaired already I'm obviously aware of how frames can break.

Should I be worried? Are there any tests I can do to see if the frame is knackered?

Could be the BB, crankset loose, even spoke tension???? Check these before you panic too much.

Could be the pedals need tighting. I had clicking recently but once tightened gone.

BB is tight, crankset is tight, pedals are tight. The wheels were used on Friday on the DMR and were silent so it's not the spokes. I'm pretty OCD about checking that everything is fitted properly so I know it's all bolted on right.

Assuming it's the frame, does this indicate metal fatigue?

Don't forget to check the saddle, it oftens come frome there and it's the last component we check.

Did you grease the threads on the pedals/crank bolts ??
are you using a shim on the stem??,,,1"--1,1/8,,-=mine clicked
seat post bolts click on u.s.e if not greased.

All mating surfaces and threads are greased so it shouldn't click from anywhere. I've not checked the saddle though. Might try riding for a bit out of the saddle and see what happens.

Cheers guys. I'll report back after my ride home this evening!

SPESHMIKE has an annoying creak/click coming from his FSR and it turned out to be knackered bearing in his rear hub.

LBS visit and £20 later its sorted.
