Clements retro touring bike

Retro Newbie
Hi all, Im new to this forum and am tring to find out a bit of info about a womens Clements touring bike I aquired from freecyle about two years ago. Google has so far come up negative and I'm not the biggest bike buff on the plannet so be kind.

Frame number: S60 3EE
Gears: suntour/shimano
Handle bars: sake custom

other than this i have no clue, except it came with a set of pannier frames which I have removed to make it a bit lighter. Frame is supprisingly light and something tells me it steal but I may be wrong.
Any info or guidance would be useful as am pondering on doing it up a bit/sorting out a better paint job so that it looks as nice as it rides.

ahh brilliant thanks, I think yours is in considerably better nick than mine atm though. Am about halfway through replacing tires and tubes after a blowout on the way to work yesterday :( and thinking on a re-spray/re-chrome/general rust removal mission and a sortout of handlebar taping.

go check my resto thread out before painting ;) (click the blue clements at the bottom of my posts) i thought i'd need paint etc but turns out cleaning and polishing was the better option ;).. your decals look in better nick than mine....

its not necessarily the necessity for a paint job but more the slightly upsetting shade of snot green that i object to lol I'm considering, but in the mean time its about to get its first clean as it has got to a stage where I cant quite work out what is rust and what is dirt.
It definitely needs bar tape and a new saddle though.

I'd say the main thing wrong with that saddle is that it's set at a BMX sort of angle.

Personally I'd keep a rack and guards on it, as it appears that it was intended to have them. The gaps in the frame look to big otherwise. It also makes it much nicer to ride to work in, not getting covered with muck...

ah yes, the erm 'jaunty' angle of the saddle is due to its habbit of regularly coming loose and slipping backwards. last time it got tigntened up i put it back into a funny position and havent got round to adjusting it again.
I am planning on getting some guards on it, waiting for a bit more dollar to find its way into my account first though. Not a particular fan of the rack though.

I reckon the S60 3EE is a previous owner's postcode. Right next door to Rotherham General Hospital.

Be brave and keep the green paint.

Mark.

agree'd :).. i'm sure it'll polish up nicely :).. watching this one closely :)

snot green!.. LOVE IT lol.. white saddle all the way duder :).. along with white tape/hoods/cables :).. it should off set that 'snot' green just nicely,, cant make my mind up on tyres tho,,, white (i know! i'm a sinner lol) or white walls maybe.....

After giving the beast a thorough jet wash yesterday, I've decided that if I'm being polite I might call it Pearlescent Minty/Pale Green. I've taken a few more detailed photos but couldnt work out how to put up a flickr link earlier.

Ahhh......Fail!
How do I upload photos/post links?

I'm with you on the whole white cable/saddle/bar tape thing, would definitely make it look a lot tidier.

Am wondering about the rust spots on the frame though, I know they need filling and retouching but have the feeling finding a matching shade of dodgy pearly green could be an interesting challenge?
Any ideas?

btw have managed to link to flikr through my profile, just hit the 'www' button at bottom of page.
