Clearing the shed and garage

I’d really like to thin out some of mine and keep picking stuff to karma or chuck out.

My problem is not just bikes, I’ve got suitcases full of CDs and DVDs, Scalextric, goodness knows how many boxes of books. Did have about 20 sacks of clothes my wife thought I’d got rid of ages ago I had planned to sell. I got rid of the clothes to one of those end of the driveway bag collections a few weeks ago.

My scrap metal pile and old car batteries I message a scrap guy and he was round in about 1/2 hour.

Bikes and bike stuff I can’t stand the thought of me chucking anything I think could still be useful.

It’s a problem, despite this I live thinking this could be me in 10 years time….Guy finds use for piece of wood he saved for 20 years!

The local bike charity in Derby closed towards the end of 2024 so I will have a look at Nottingham.
The odd church hall ones local to me have no storage facilities.

Maybe we need a retrobike jumble sale! We could do it online......£1 per item + post, sure there's some stuff people would love to love in those heaps

I have no problem with books,cds and clothes our local shopping precinct has about 4 charity shops who take all of the above .

Rim cull time today number of sprint rims to go . These are the ones that escaped an earlier round up . A further thin out of 5 speed free wheels all close ratio .

You should get at least £20 per car battery in terms of scrap price.

We’re going through a huge house renovation. We have WAY too much stuff. And the house we bought has a workshop in the loft from the previous owner who was a serious hoarder as he repaired antiques.

Hoping to get around 1K scrap value from all the bits that are being ripped out of the house if I can keep the plumber away from them!

Local bike charities are great. As @Tootyred said, they use what they can and the rest gets weighed in as scrap so they still make some money.

When you put stuff in storage/have to sort through it yourself you realise just how much crap (useful and less useful!) you have!!!!
