Hydrofluoric acid mixed with ....

Hydrofluoric is pretty *special* stuff.
It's pretty unlikely any casual forum browsers will come across it, and thise who use it likely know the risks.
If you don't and you find some under your mum's kitchen sink, browse the internet judiciously to understand the risks.... :shock:

There's rumours of it being in some commercial car wheel cleaners, no idea if it's true though.

Aluminium cleaner. It's on eBay and comes with little warning. You can find the made and it not the most accurately made stuff. Higher quality are 6 to 10 %. HF. These alubrite style ones are 1 to 10%. But at least they have an msds. You're supposed to dilute it too. It'll still go into your body through your skin if not burning you, its mixed with phosphoric acid as well.

It works though as a friend found out, think he might have stubby fingers now ;-)

Used by boat cleaners and possibly concrete cleaners (gardeners may use it?)

Hence why I said you do the risk assessing that's not up to me on here.

For light rust on chrome bolts you could try rubbing with wet tin foil. I tried it after stumbling on a youtube video and it's suprisingly effective.

I thought it had been banned from aluminium cleaner.
I should have elaborated that when it's used as a wheel cleaner it's used as a spray. Which is far from ideal!
