Perhaps this is the beginning of an admission of an obsession, but I'm not the only one and I'm taking others with me!

What are your top tips for cleaning bike parts?

I know I'm not alone in cleaning tyres in the bath.

I've found that dishwashers are too harsh on anodised parts, but have it on
good authority that they do a good job on cassettes

Any other top tips?

I use Autosol (in the toothpaste tube) on shiny aluminium parts (Girvin Vector legs come up particularly nicely using this!) - though make sure your aluminium isn't already lacquered!

Can anybody back this up as I have a stack of these needing cleaning and it's such a pain - worst bit of the bike to clean!

It works - but don't put a tablet in (and if you have salt already in the machine it can do damage).

It is the ultimate lazy man approach though - good spray of lube afterwards and it has always worked for me.

Really not sure my wife would approve of me putting a load of cassettes and chainrings in the dishwasher..
...unless she is out and would never know

Recent discovery is Cillit Bang - damn fine degreaser, and cheaper than expensive stuff (if that makes sense)

Jet wash wish shampoo always worked well after a really long cacky muddy wet ride.

Just don't get the jet wash anywhere near yer bearings...!

well, be careful yeah, but when I raced pretty much every week, it used to be routine to stop the team van in a certain garage and jetwash after each race. OK, bit careful not to go full pelt directly at bearings, but honestly never caused any of us a problem.

Nothing like it for cleaning your bike. Don't do it now, as I have two kids who love cleaning bikes. freaky, but useful :)
