These are two pairs of extremely lightweight old-style sidepull caliper brakes from the 1970s, competitors to the lightweight crown along with the Modolo Kronos brakes (though the CLBs will actually stop you!). Search the internet and you will find pics and info.
The Spaceline has a hard grey anodized coating on callipers and levers, natural coloured hoods in unused condition plus black plastic aero fairings (with logo) that fit over the callipers (there is one broken tab that helps to locate the fairing, but it works without it). It comes with all fitting parts, plus three sets of integral brake shoes/pads. The levers have a rudimentary system for running aero cables along the handlebars, or from the tops of the levers. There's an original colour leaflet, but I don't have the box or the alloy cable and housings that it came with originally.
The Compact SL set is silver anodised, with what may not be the original cover to the centre bolt in front of the callipers. There's no aero caliper cover. The lever hoods are white and in super condition; these have been removed and the actual lever body slightly modified with a small piece glued near the top cable entry point and a slot cut in to the body - this was done to allow standard Shimano 105 aero lever hoods to be used - there's a slightly more sophisticated cam to allow aero cable placement, or through the tops of the levers, more in keeping with the style of the era. I don't think the cable clamp bolts are original, but they work. These come with a set of new integral pads/shoes, and a set of Shimano aero hoods in black.
Each set is around 200-210g for complete callipers plus brake shoes, 190-200g for the levers. They are low-profile so great for a TT bike. Everything you need is included. Both sets are pretty much immaculate, bar the points I've outlined above.
I'd like what I paid for them - £150 for the Spacelines and spares or £100 for the Compact SL set - plus whatever postage costs might be necessary.
Any questions, please ask..
