This is a real gem, I have owned this for about 4 years and only ridden it once. So putting my sensible head on I offer you.....
A mid 70's Claud Butler Courier 23" frame in near to new condition with all original parts (tyres excepted). It rides perfectly with no creaks, clicks or drag. I have struggled to find any info on tinternet to reveal the year of manufacture but I have no doubt that the spec is as supplied as it just looks right. I would guess this was aimed at the real roadie market as a winter training bike as the lowest gear ratio of 42x21 certainly smacks of Alf Engers wannabies! The forks have 531 decals, I cannot vouch for the frame. The paintwork is very good indeed with only a slight fading of the post box red on one side of the frame and small chips and scratches due to storage. There are signs of rust on the chromed pedal bodies and BB lock ring but they are minor and only confirm that its a bike that is wearing its 40 years very well. The Huret gears, while basic, work superbly being accurate and smooth to use. The bar tape is spotless. There is no obvious wear to the rims or brake pads and the dirty oil visible on the chain has been cleaned off and the whole bike re-lubed, cleaned up and the paint chips attended to.
All in all a real retro time warp.
