Classic Claud Butler?

Hi All...

I'm looking for a little advice please... I recently inherited a Claud Butler road bike (pics below) and was wandering if anyone could help me identify it's model / year. I think it was originally purchased in the 80s, but beyond that I'm clueless!

Could this be considered a classic bicycle? If so... is it worth anything and where would be the best place to sell? All the components are original as far as I can tell (handlebars in the pics are replacements, but I have the originals)...

Here's some more details...

Derailleurs: Suntour VX front and rear
Shifters: Suntour
Breaks: Weinmann Vainqueur (front 610, rear 750)
Chainset: Exage 500E (possibly not original?)
Cassette: 5speed
Seat: Brooks
Lights: Dynamo, both working
Bag at rear: Carradice (bag at front is a modern addition)

Not easy to date exactly but with it having the original style head badge I would say it was made during the latter end of the Holdsworth ownership.

Is there a frame number anywhere?

'75 to '81 going by the 531 decal.

Who cares what it's worth; bikes are made for loving not selling. Ride & enjoy.

It's not hugely valuable...say £100 ish. You might get £60 for the frame on ebay for conversion to a fixie.

It's a nice bike - but the thing about such older bikes is that the purists want something a bit more exotic, and the people who want just a bike go for some Halfords gaspipe horror (even though the Claud will in every way be a better bike).
